Setting up a local group with CAG Oxfordshire

February 26th, 2014

On Wednesday 9 July we’ll be chatting with local organization network CAG Oxfordshire, accompanied by a bring-and-share meal. The meeting will be at St Mary’s Church, on the Leys end of Church Green. We start at 7:30pm.

Oxfordshire is especially lucky in the sheer scale of its network of Community Action Groups (CAGs), of which Sustainable Witney is one. These groups both support each other and also benefit from the great centralized help and advice provided by the kind folk at CAG Oxfordshire.

That means it’s easier than you might think, to set up and run your own local CAG. So why not come along: for ideas, inspiration, and maybe even a helping hand?

Bee Cause meeting and committee meeting this Thursday

June 3rd, 2013

This is a quick reminder that Sustainable Witney is hosting a Bee Cause meeting this Thursday 6 June, at the Fleece on Church Green. Guest speakers from Friends of the Earth will discuss the campaign and what we can do to help bee populations.

Bee Cause starts promptly at 7pm so please get there in good time. There’ll be a committee meeting beforehand from 6pm, to which all interested parties are welcome!

Constitutional changes help support aims: ours, and funders

June 3rd, 2013

A few small but important changes to the Sustainable Witney constitution were voted in unanimously at the previous general meeting on April 4.

It might surprise some members to hear that we even have a constitution! But any organization like ours, especially if they want to ensure their practices are fair and above board (and especially if they hope to attract funding), should adopt some kind of constitution.

Committee meeting prior to Bee Cause on 6 June

May 12th, 2013

Apologies for the rash of emails you might have received in the past couple of days, but this is just a quick addendum to the previous, to let you know that we’ll have a committee meeting immediately before the Bee Cause meeting on Thursday 6 June.

The committee meeting starts at 6pm and all are welcome. If you’d like to get more involved with the projects we do, then do come along.

(By the way, if you haven’t been receiving news emails, but you’d like to, then do feel free to register for them! They’re usually fairly infrequent, and they’ll keep you informed on the progress of all our projects.)

The easiest way to support Sustainable Witney

November 12th, 2012

It’s amazing that so many people come along to our organising meetings; even those who can’t commit much time, still help out with specific events and make them such a success.

Nonetheless, Sustainable Witney appreciates that there are lots of you out there who really like what we do, but simply don’t have the free time to give us a hand. If that describes you, then please know that your vocal support for Sustainable Witney is enough!

… But if you do find yourself thinking “I wish I could help more” but not finding the time, then you can quote this code – SUSW1 – if and when you switch your energy supplier to Ecotricity.
