October 27th, 2012

Come and join us at the Langdale Hall next Saturday 3rd November. Bring along your old, good clothes to swap; pimp your boring t-shirts; see what can be done with your old textiles and clothes – anything but throw them in the bin. Free. Fun. Fashion.

Well Done Us!

October 24th, 2012

Katherine, Brigitte and Becky accepted the OCVA Best New Group Award for Sustainable Witney at last night’s ceremony in Oxford Town Hall.

We were thrilled to be shortlisted by the Oxfordshire Charity and Volunteer Awards and delighted to win our category. Our commiserations to the two other worthy groups we pipped to the post.

No resting on our laurels though as it’s all hands on deck for ReFashion on Saturday 3rd November!

Got A Light Boy?

October 18th, 2012

Coming back from Oxford at lighting up time this week, I was reminded just how far behind our northern european neighbours we are when it comes to being cycle friendly.

A few years ago you’d rarely see another soul along the A40 cycle path, and having a good light to see by was just a case of buying the brightest one you could afford. On dark country roads this even seemed an advantage in that it made approaching drivers think twice about exactly what it was coming towards them.

ReFashion Witney

October 4th, 2012

ReFashion is a fun fashion event that aims to highlight the problem of disposable fashion.

In Oxfordshire around 3% of household rubbish is textiles. This adds up to over 8,000 tonnes of clothes, shoes and fabrics discarded every year which costs local councils over £660,000 to collect and dispose of.

Taking place at Langdale Hall, Witney, on November 3rd (10am-4pm), this free event encourages people to bring their old clothes, buy a refashioned garment or learn crafting and repairing skills. Catwalk shows featuring students and themed performances will take place throughout the day.

Fashion is fun, and that’s exactly what we want ReFashion to be about. Bring along your old clothes to repair, embellish, swap or simply recycle.

If you would like to be involved in helping on the day we need volunteers for:-

  • The kitchen
  • Helping with the swishing stall
  • Setting up and clearing away
  • General help during the day

Come for an hour or longer, whatever you can offer will be gratefully received. We also need models for the catwalk – young and old, male and female. Please get in touch via our Contact page.
