Local £99 Insulation Deal

Did you know that the United Sustainable Energy Agency has one of its two offices right here in Witney? A not for profit company, they provide services to the public sector, business, and individuals to help them reduce carbon, adapt to climate change and tackle fuel poverty – right on our doorstep.

In partnership with the district and county councils they have launched a special £99 insulation deal. There are more details on the deal and the USEA on their website, and also on the West Oxon District Council website.

Insulating the loft isn’t always straightforward if like ours it’s become a repository for “stuff” over the years. Now is a great time to sort through it and make some extra cash on ebay to cover the £99. Alternatively, recycle it through freecycle.

Many homes already have some insulation – ours had between 25 and 50 mm – but that was fitted when energy was cheap and carbon emissions were unheard of. Increasing it to the recommended 270mm makes a significant improvement – we can feel the difference.

So if there’s one thing you do this year to reduce energy usage in your home, and you haven’t already done it, make sure you get it insulated. You won’t get a better deal.
